(Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce press release)

The public is invited to attend an opening of The Grain Loft, Algoma’s newest urban rustic wedding and event venue, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday (May 10).

The evening will include food trucks, on-site music, complimentary beer and champagne, and a cash bar. Guests are invited to wander the premises and explore the newly renovated areas including the Bridal Quarters, Man Cave, Beer Cottage, Outdoor Ceremony Space and Gardens.

The Grain Loft is owned and operated by Stacey and David Vecellio, who also operate another venue, The Cupola Barn, in Oconomowoc. Their interest began when their oldest daughter declared at a young age that she would have a barn wedding and had to travel several hours to make her dream wedding a reality.

“This is where the dream began,” Vecellio said. “After several years of ‘talking’ about our dream, one day, we decided to tour a couple of barn properties, just in case we found something we liked. From there, everything went really fast!”

After only one year, the event venue was booked each weekend during their open season.

One day last summer as the Vecellios were driving home from Door County they were surprised to see The Flying Pig was for sale.

“We weren’t necessarily looking for a second location,” Vecellio said, “but we used to see The Flying Pig on our way to and from Door County and always loved its location – nestled in the cute little town of Algoma and along the shoreline of Lake Michigan.” From the beginning, the building had the industrial and rustic flair that they loved. “We could picture how perfect it would be as a wedding and event venue, plus the gardens were absolutely gorgeous and the bonus cherry picking cottages offer endless possibilities.”

The Vecellios focus on helping the bride and groom to create their custom dream wedding to fit their personalities.

“Even though we are an event venue, we are still a small, family-run business and our guests often mention how they love working with us. They can see that we put our heart and soul in everything we do and especially when working with our couples. Taking care of people has always been our true passion. We take the time with each couple and treat them as if we are working with our own family.”
