Thomas Cretney will be the new Kewaunee County Board supervisor for District 10, representing the town of Franklin.
After last week’s spring election, Cretney and John Wochos each received 102 votes for the seat being vacated by Ron Paider, who decided not to run for a fourth two-year term on the board.
The Board of Canvassers met Tuesday morning and verified the results, and then a full recount was conducted, confirming the tie, County Clerk Jamie Annoye said.
The board then decided to settle the tie by drawing a name out of a box, and Cretney’s name was chosen, she said.
Cretney will be sworn in with the other 19 members of the new County Board at its organizational meeting April 24.
He will be one of eight new supervisors; the others are Cory Cochart (District 2), Kent Treml (5), Daniel Olson (6), Charles Schmitt (7), Aaron Augustian (11), Kim Kroll (13), and Joseph Lukes (17).
