Three Kewaunee County high school wrestlers – two from Luxemburg-Casco and one from Kewaunee – have made it to the championship matches of the state wrestling tournament in Madison.

L-C’s Reece Worachek – a champion at 170 last year – defeated Alex Witt (42-7) of Monroe 4-0 in the Division 2 182-pound semi-final Friday night (Feb. 28). Worachek (47-1) faces Will Schaefer (40-6) of Belmont/Platteville Saturday night.

His teammate Lucas Joniaux (46-5) defeated Matt Rogge (44-7) of Monroe in a 1-0 decision at 132. Joniaux squares off against Bailey Thelen (38-3) of Two Rivers for the state title.

Jack Severin (40-7) of Kewaunee won his semi-final match 5-4 over Evan Wolfe (41-9) of West Salem/Bangor at 126 pounds. Severin takes on Kaiden Koltz (43-10) of Wrightstown in the championship round.

One other L-C wrestler remains alive in the consolation bracket. Easton Worachek (40-10) has a match Saturday morning against Luke Dux (35-5) of Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal. The winner advances to the third-place match, and the loser will wrestle for fifth place.
