A series of thefts from vehicles around Kewaunee County has apparently been cleared with the arrest early Wednesday (April 8) of a suspect who had broken into a car in Luxemburg a few minutes earlier.
The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department got a call around 3:11 a.m. that a woman’s vehicle had just been burglarized.
“The caller stated that the suspect had broken a window in her vehicle to gain access and that the suspect had just left the scene,” according to a news release from Sheriff Matt Joski.
Deputies were able to respond quickly and in a short time were able to detain the suspect, Joski said.
“The suspect subsequently admitted to entering multiple vehicles in the Village of Luxemburg as well as in the city of Kewaunee,” he said. “Numerous stolen items were recovered.”
A variety of charges is expected to be referred to the Kewaunee County District Attorney.
