Kewaunee County is hoping to include as many as 150 private wells in its annual testing program, scheduled for Oct. 21.

“This is a well-testing program that we offer to help educate landowners to test their own levels,” County Conservationist Davina Bonness said during this week’s meeting of the County Board’s Land & Water Committee.

Three packages are available for Kewaunee County property owners:

The Homeowner’s Package ($52 fee) will test well water for coliform bacteria, nitrate, chloride, pH, alkalinity, hardness, corrosivity index and conductivity.

The Metals Package ($49) will test for the presence of arsenic, calcium, copper, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sulfate, sodium and zinc.

The Diaminochorotriazine (DACT) test ($30) provides a breakdown of atrazine and related herbicides in the water.

All three packages are $123 and are available on a first come, first served basis. For more information, call 920-845-9743.
