The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region announces a five-day, full closure of Wisconsin 42 in the town of Pierce, Kewaunee County, to replace a deteriorating culvert pipe under the roadway. The closure was for Monday (Oct. 14) through Friday, Oct. 18.

The entire project is scheduled to take place through Oct. 25. Construction after the closure will use lane and shoulder closures for traffic control. A signed detour will be posted during the closure.

Vinton Construction from Two Rivers is the prime contractor.

The project aims to replace a large, drainage way culvert under Wisconsin 42 between Eighth Road and Ninth Road, including culvert excavation, pavement replacement, pavement marking and installation of new guardrail.

Access to properties along the highway will be maintained at all times. Traffic will not be able to cross at the culvert location. Shoulder and lane closures will be in place for work remaining following the full closure.

Traffic will be detoured via County Road D and Wisconsin 54. State highway detours are typically set up for long haul trucks. Local traffic may find shorter routes using the local road system.
