The annual Zoobilee fundraiser for the Zoological Society of Kewaunee County is scheduled for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 5) at the Bruemmer Park Zoo.
More than 1,500 people turned out for last year’s Zoobilee, a day of family fun, food, car show, and more. Kewaunee Piggly Wiggly is the event’s main sponsor.
The Kewaunee County Board in August accepted a $35,000 donation from the Society for a new house for deer, goats and sheep. The group will build the facility, which will belong to the county upon completion. The WPS Foundation is the major sponsor of the project.
It’s among a number of improvements planned for the zoo, most notably a pheasant exhibit that will house at least 20 species. Fundraising is ongoing for that project, which is part of the zoo master plan. For more information, visit www.bruemmerparkzoo.com
